This idea sprouted recently from local Kitsap Sun reporter Josh Farley. Josh saw a need for supporting local businesses during this time who have been negatively impacted financially by the Covid-19 pandemic. He then worked with local businesses to create the Bremerton Bond Campaign, which is being run by the Bremerton Chamber of Commerce. 100% of the proceeds will be distributed to the small local businesses that need it the most.
How Bremer bonds help local businesses
There are many shops in our area that have been deemed “non essential” and have had to temporarily close these past several weeks. Even the other local businesses that have been lucky enough to be “essential” are seeing dramatic drops in revenue. The Bremer Bond Campaign is a fantastic way to raise money to keep local businesses alive!
So how do Bremer bonds work?
You can buy a $100 bond that can be redeemed for local gift cards when normal business resumes or it can be framed and hung in your home or business as a sign of your commitment to supporting local businesses.
You have two options:
- Go to bremertonchamber.org and click on the “Buy a Bremer Bond”

It will take you to a Brembuilt.com site. This site is where you can join the campaign, buy a Bremer Bond or pre order a support tee. It is a very well designed site that is easy to navigate.
